It is always a humanistic and pagan concept of peace that citizens should not be armed to protect their wives, children and property from criminals. It cannot be disputed with success that guns save innocent lives from assailants.
In Zimbabwe people are being abducted and murdered or tortured by state sponsored criminals. Women are being raped by state sanctioned militias. Tight gun control laws have left millions of Zimbabweans virtual unarmed and more vulnerable to criminals.
ZANU PF terrorist and criminals were able to commit genocide in 1983 because the Ndebele people were not armed. If the Ndebele's were armed that could have saved many innocent lives. Today, Zimbabwe will not be mourning 40 000 Ndebeles who died in genocide. Often victims of genocide are disarmed citizens.
Immaturity blinds us from seeing long term consequence's of certain ideas. Surrendering the right to self-defense is tantamount to committing suicide. Most genocides are preceded by 'Gun Control' laws. In Rwanda the Tusti's were disarmed before being massacred. Its better to get a Civil War than to get genocide. The truth is that many people die in genocide than civil war.
Self- defense is honorable and Holy. Love must compel us to provide security to children, women and our neighbor. The wicked shall always be there and God has not left us at the mercy of these criminals. Our lives are precious to God. Self-defense is Biblical. Guns are good, if properly used they prevent rape, robbery and murder such as going on in Zimbabwe.
The new MDC government upon assuming office must allow citizens to be armed. Potential tyrants do not want citizens to be armed. The modern government like a god is jealous of its power and does not want strong families and defensive communities.
Pacifism is wrong. God is not a pacifist nor was Jesus a pacifist as the rebellious, modern Church depicts Him. Jesus commanded his disciples to be armed with swords for their defense from bandits. Many people try to spiritualise this, but before long we see Peter using the sword in John 18:10. In verse 11, Jesus commanded Peter to put the sword in its proper place, this, clearly show that Peter was used to carry this sword. Peter was rebuked because he wanted to use the sword to defend the Lord, Jesus Christ.
You can defend yourself or your neighbor not Christ who could send a legion to crush His enemies. Furthermore the disciples did not wait for Jesus to answer them, "Lord shall we strike with the Sword?" Luke 22:49.
In the Bible God is depicted as a warrior or lion of the tribe of Judah. If God is not a pacifist, therefore, His children cannot be pacifists. It is immaturity to blame knives and guns which can be used for good – self-defense. Any nation that deny the truth about self-defense and guns will end up being enslaved and abused by dictators.

Shooting Back - The Right and Duty of Self-Defence by Charl van Wyk
“Grenades were exploding in flashes of light. Pews shattered under the blasts, sending splinters flying through the air. An automatic assault rifle was being fired and was fast ripping the pews — and whoever, whatever was in its trajectory — to pieces. We were being attacked!
“Instinctively, I knelt down behind the bench in front of me and pulled out my .38 Special snub-nosed revolver, which I always carried with me. I would have felt undressed without it. Many people could not understand why I would carry a firearm into a church service, but I argued that this was a particularly dangerous time in South Africa…”

Charl van Wyk was an ordinary Christian man until the day he was called upon to be extraordinary. The date was 25 July 1993 and the event was what was to become known as the St James Massacre. Charl was catapulted into the media’s attention by shooting back at the terrorists who attacked the innocent congregation.
Shooting Back is his story.
Dr. Peter Hammond, the Director of Frontline Fellowship has written:
“As Charl’s story so clearly shows: armed citizens save lives, but unarmed citizens too often become helpless victims. This book is most important because it not only presents a seldom heard first hand perspective on a very key event, but it looks at the practical implications and what we can do to help save lives and prevent such atrocities recurring.”
Shooting Back deals with the burning questions that plague all God-fearing people:
Should we carry arms?
When is it appropriate to defend ourselves and our families?
What can we do when our freedom to carry arms is legislated away from us?
Larry Pratt, the Executive Director of Gun Owners of America had this to say about Charl’s book:
“As Van Wyk’s experience illustrates, no place is totally safe — not even a church. The notion that declaring an area to be gun-free, will keep criminals from maliciously using guns is ludicrous. Any law that makes self-defence illegal or impractical is an illegitimate law, because such a law ultimately subjects people to the criminal element. I hope that Charl van Wyk’s book will help turn the tide. South Africans – and people everywhere – need to refuse to support any laws that leave them defenceless against murderers, robbers, rapists and arsonists.”
Shooting Back has been published by Christian Liberty Books, is 150 pages long with 7 colour photographs. It is available for R 65 within South Africa and $10 for overseas readers (including postage).
